Hempton is an Australian women-led fashion brand that focuses on casual wear made from organic hemp, a fiber that many in the green community consider to be the most sustainable for its regenerative qualities because it grows quickly without having to needs chemicals, uses less water than cotton, and is one of the most durable natural fibers in the world (which also means hemp clothing generally lasts longer).
The brand has just launched its first product, the Hempton Classic Teeexclusively on Kickstarter, produced by a manufacturer certified by the Fair Wear Foundation.
So what inspired founder Hannah to create Hempton? The idea was born after she quit her corporate 9-to-5 job to take a break from her career and go traveling the world with her husband. It was during this two-year backpacking trip around the world that she realized there was a lack of appropriate clothing options for female travellers.
“When I really thought about it, I realized there really wasn’t any clothing made for travelling. There’s only fast fashion, which isn’t built to last,” she says.
Through her Australian ethical brand Hempton, Hannah hopes to change the way fashion is made; crafting stylish, durable and versatile basics from sustainable Wondercrop hemp. To help Hannah get her brand off the ground, and in return for your support, they’re offering their first hemp t-shirts at the lowest prices in March, starting at just AU$37.
