Malacañang asked the public and candidates to continue to follow health protocols and electoral guidelines before the start of the campaign for local offices.

Communications Secretary Martin Andanar made the statement as the local election campaign period begins on March 25.

In a statement, Andanar said the Palace was confident the public would remain vigilant during this time, but reminded everyone to strictly adhere to rules and regulations.

“We remain confident that people will continue to be vigilant as the local election campaign period begins,” he said.

“We therefore ask everyone – from candidates to the general public – to strictly adhere to the health and safety protocols and guidelines set by the Electoral Commission (Comelec) in the conduct of their political activities, including campaign rallies and meetings. in-person campaigning,” he added.

Meanwhile, Andanar assured that the government’s vaccination against Covid-19 would continue during the election season.

“This event is also a good reminder that there will be no slowdown in our Covid-19 vaccination campaign,” he said.

“We remain on track with our goal of having 90 million Filipinos fully immunized by the end of June 2022,” he added.

As of March 14, a total of 64,660,228 people in the country have been fully vaccinated against the virus.

The government’s initial target is to fully vaccinate 77 million adults by the end of the first quarter of the year.
