FRSC advises political parties to avoid reckless driving during campaigns

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has advised political parties to avoid reckless driving during campaigns ahead of the 2023 general election.

Peter Kibo, the Zonal Commander in charge of Ogun State and Lagos, gave the advice on Tuesday during a retreat held in Ojodu-Berger, Lagos.

The theme of the retreat was: “Promoting a Strategic Partnership for Innovative Road Safety Intervention in Lagos and Ogun”.

Mr. Kibo, while addressing reporters, urged party leaders and candidates in all states to advise their drivers who would be in convoys during the election campaign to drive safely.

“Accidents happen during campaigns due to the reckless driving of some party drivers, that’s why we remind them, enlighten them and educate them to avoid reckless attitudes during the election campaign.

“The campaigns you are doing, it is our prayers that you do so safely so that you can participate, vote or be elected in the elections.

“But when you drive dangerously, injure, kill and maim the electorate or your own candidates, you can see that doesn’t speak well.

“My advice is that you campaign gently by observing traffic rules and regulations so that your electorate and candidates can vote and be elected respectively,” he said.
