The Today programme, on BBC Radio 4, examined the state of the NHS and its history. The pressure on the NHS and social care is unsustainable and unsustainable.

Richard Brown, of Glasgow, died after waiting five hours for an ambulance. Almost six million people are waiting to start treatment in England, with more than 300,000 of them waiting for more than a year.

In the programme’s own words: “Health services, whether government-run in Westminster, Edinburgh, Cardiff or Belfast, are struggling to cope.

But the program offered no solution to the current crisis. No pro-capitalist, pro-austerity politician or right-wing media have an alternative. We should not trust them with our NHS, our lives or our livelihoods.

The Socialist Party has a clear strategy to defend the NHS. We say unions should coordinate their actions.

We need a public sector strike to defend our NHS and public services, and to fight for a pay rise of at least 15% for public sector workers. Private entrepreneurs should be kicked out of the NHS and pharmaceutical companies should be nationalised.

At Socialism 2021 we will have a session ‘Can the NHS survive?’ discuss how we can build a campaign to successfully defend it.

The Socialist Party campaigns in the streets every week to save our NHS and for more – free education, social housing and a new mass party of the working class and young people.

To continue this vital socialist campaign work, we rely on the continued financial donations of workers and young people. We need your donation.

For Socialism 2021 we have a target of £30,000 for the financial appeal. This fundraiser allows us to fight for a socialist alternative to the profit-driven system that causes environmental chaos and human misery. Capitalism has nothing to offer but class exploitation, insecurity, poverty, low wages, unemployment, war, hunger and disease.

We therefore urgently need your donations to finance the struggle for socialism. 20% of your donation will go to financing the international to which the Socialist Party is affiliated: the Committee for a Workers’ International (CIO).

Funding the international working class response

Donate to help fund the campaign work of the CWI and the development of, so that our Marxist ideas can reach many more workers and young people.

For more than 20 years, has provided detailed Marxist analysis and commentary on the world situation and national events. He served as a political guide for workers and young people seeking an alternative to capitalist barbarism.

It captures first-hand the struggles of workers, youth, students, oppressed communities and minorities. But it does much more than that. He proposes a socialist program to advance the labor movement.

While building the forces of the CWI, we actively participate in all struggles of the working class, of the young, of the poor and of the oppressed, including the struggle to transform the trade unions into combative and democratic mass organizations of the working class. And let us create new mass political parties of the working class, the poor and the young, based on socialist policies, independent of the bosses and their political parties.
